Take a step back in time with modern technology

The Groot Constantia virtual tour is a simulation of the heritage core’s buildings, and is composed of a sequence of videos all linked together to give one stunning panoramic view of our courtyard. The panorama gives an unbroken view of the Cloete Cellar, Manor House and pond.

With the iconic Manor House behind you, you’ll see the Groot Constantia courtyard, home to the Cloete Cellar.

Built in the late 1700’s by then-owner Hendrik Cloete, the wine cellar is soaked in rich vinicultural history. Here is where Grand Constance – the legendary sweet wine of Constantia was born – and enjoyed by global royalty in days gone by.

The courtyard is a working space which attracts thousands of visitors every year. The Cloete Cellar and warehouse is a regal two-storey masterpiece, boasting a Greek-mythology inspired pediment gable, created by renowned sculptor Anton Anreith.

The majestic Manor House is the heart of the estate. It was originally designed in Dutch Renaissance style and has been meticulously preserved to exact historical accuracy. It offers a unique snapshot of a Cape farmer’s lifestyle during the 18th and 19th century.

To step back in time with wine, this 360° tour is the perfect place to begin your journey.
