Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker

WINEMAKER

BOELA GERBER 

• (B.Sc. Viticulture & Oenology - Stellenbosch (4 years)
• Joined Groot Constantia on the 1st of January 2001
• Diners Club Young Wine-maker of 2002 Award.

Boala has worked harvests at the folowing wineries internationally

• Chateau Angelus in St Emillion
• Chateau Merlet, Entre deux Mers, Bordeaux .
• Villa Palazzo in Chianti Classico, Tuscany
• Bodega Baigorri in Rioja Alavesa recently.

Gerber has made his way to this point after six years in the industry. His post-graduate grooming began at Stellenzicht under the mentorship of Andre van Rensburg (currently at Vergelegen). After two years Van Rensburg resigned, leaving Gerber as cellar master for the 1998 harvest. Thereafter he spent some time at Rickety Bridge, before jumping at the opening in the Constantia Valley.

ASSISTANT WINEMAKER

DANIEL KEULDER (DANIE)

Has been appointed as the assistant winemaker, since the 7th September 2009. He has an M.Sc. Agric (Oenology) from Stellenbosch University and has gained extensive experience in quality control at the Fuller, Smith and Turner Brewery in England. Prior to joining Groot Constantia, Daniel worked as the assistant winemaker at Lutzville Vineyards
