Constantia Fresh‘Constantia Fresh’ is one of the first South African wine festivals to feature Sauvignon Blanc of the Constantia Valley and other participating regional and international producers for a two day lifestyle festival celebrating the distinctiveness and freshness of the ‘wild white’ grape, Sauvignon Blanc and its compatibility with food.

These festivities, organised by Jörg Pfützner of Fine Wine Events, aim to manifest in the minds of Sauvignon Blanc drinkers, its food compatibility as well as uncovering how South Africa truly fairs in the international context of Sauvignon Blanc.

‘A noble grape variety
Organiser of the event, top sommelier, Jörg Pfützner says “It’s is important that people realise that there are dimensions to Sauvignon Blanc other than those tinned asparagus and green pepper components. It’s actually a noble grape variety and the top Sauvignon Blanc wines of South Africa can measure themselves against the rest of the world. We’ve invited Loire and New Zealand producers to give our guests a chance to see how we fair internationally”.

Participating producers
‘Constantia Fresh’ features a total of four palate-stimulating events taking place on the 26th and 27th February 2010 which is possible thanks to the support of the participating Constantia producers namely Constantia Uitsig, Klein Constantia, Groot Constantia, Steenberg, Eagle’s Nest, Buitenverwachting and Constantia Glen.

Pfützner has extended the invitation to a handful of Loire and New Zealand producers as well as specific top Sauvignon Blanc producers in Elgin, Durbanville, Stellenbosch, Hemel en Aarde, Cederberg, Robertson and the Cape Point to complete the regional and international attraction of the two day festivities in the same vein as the Riesling Festival’s food and wine pairing exhibition which was held in Cape Town in February 2009.
