Wine Enthusiast Magazine recently announced 50 nominees for its annual Wine Star industry awards for 2006. Groot Constantia is nominated in the category Best New World Winery and is South Africa’s only nominee this year.

The award categories are: Wine Person of the Year; three Wineries of the Year—American, European and New World; Winemaker of the Year; Wine Region of the Year; Distiller of the Year; Retailer of the Year; Importer of the Year and Special Lifetime Achievement Award.

The winners in each category will be announced in the December 15 issue, which will be published on November 6 and will feature profiles of all the winners.
